Course Policies#
Exam#
The exam type for all DTU courses is outlined in the course base (02002 and 02003). For both courses, the exam is a 4-hour written exam with all aids allowed but no internet access.
This means:
The exam is individual and conducted on-site at DTU.
The exam problems are distributed digitally via the Digital Exam (DE) platform. Students use their computers to solve the exam problems and submit their solutions via DE.
Students may bring all aids, either printed or digital.
Communication with others or using AI tools during the exam is prohibited.
Assessment#
How the exam is assessed is described in the exam instructions, available on pages 2–3 of any previous exam, e.g., 2024_12_exam_English.pdf.
You should read these carefully. Your exam will be scored on a scale from 0 to 100%.
The exact translation from scores to grades will be determined after the exam, but typically, a score of around 40% is required to pass, and scores above 90% will earn the top grades.
Quizzes and Bonus Points#
Starting from week 2, we hold weekly in-class quizzes with 10 multiple-choice questions. If you correctly answer 6 or more questions, you earn 0.5% bonus points. You can earn up to 5% in bonus points from quizzes. There are a total of 12 quizzes. Bonus points will be added to your exam score if your grade is below 7 without them. In other words, bonus points can help you pass or improve your grade, but not beyond a grade of 7.
Bonus points are valid for three exam terms from when you take the course. That is, you can use your bonus points for:
The winter exam immediately after the course where you earned the bonus points
The summer exam that follows
The winter exam the next year
After this, your bonus points expire regardless of whether you have attempted the exam or not. If you retake the course, you can earn new bonus points. If you have valid bonus points from both last year and the current year, we will use the maximum of the two years. We will not combine the two quiz results, so you cannot supplement your results from last year with only a few quizzes.
